Yes, we have set-up and use the Payroll Infotypes in Ad Hoc and SQ01 reporting. We copied the standard SAP infotypes you listed along with IT0402 to create 9402, 9446,9447, etc. We defined the wage types we wanted to track and assigned them to the proper infotypes.
The 0446-0460 series are to capture payments and taxes on a Monthly, Quarterly and Annual basis. This can be achieved in fewer infotypes depending on your configuration. You do not need specific infotypes just for these cummulations.
Our Payroll people do not like using the queries built with the Payroll infotypes as they are updated only when payroll is run. They will not capture data from off-cycle runs or manual adjustments until the next payroll run.
Time to configure depends on many factors - skill and experience, number of wage types and infotypes to set up, etc. Should be able to set up one or two infotypes in a couple of days. You do need a developer key to generate the infotype.
